YogaJo's Yoga Studio

After teaching in the local area for a number of years Jo Lockhart, the founder of YogaJo's became frustrated by the lack of suitable space available to meet the growing demand for her yoga classes.  She dreamed of a warm, clean, tranquil space that would give her the flexibility to bring yoga to the entire community.  After a long search for a suitable property, a site visit to the premises at Lennox Park in Milngavie led her to believe she had found the right spot and she decided to take the plunge and make the dream a reality.

Building work started at the site in June 2012 and a purpose built site opened in October 2012.  At YogaJo's, Jo and her fellow teachers will be teaching over 25 classes a week.  There will be something for everyone, from the very young to the very old, children and adults with special needs, the absolute beginner to the more seasoned yogi, for those looking for a spiritual practice, to those who just fancy a stretch once a week.  Whichever class you choose, we hope yoga will open your body and mind, and we look forward to welcoming you to our growing yoga community.

At YogaJo,s there are changing and shower facilities, on site parking, a chill-out zone if you fancy a cup of tea and a natter after class (we're a friendly bunch) and most of all a clean and warm studio space.  Can't wait to see you there.

Yoga

Why practice Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient method, developed and refined over thousands of years, which aims to help develop both the mental and physical states of any practitioner, regardless of age or ability. The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where yoga originated. We can think of the union occurring between the mind, body and spirit.

Each posture is specifically designed to not only stretch the entire body, strengthen and tone the muscles of the body, but also to massage the internal organs of the body, whilst increasing lung capacity through breathing exercises and strengthening the organs.
Regular practice will lead to the body working more efficiently.

There are many different styles of yoga and we hope that Yoga Jo's offers a style suited to everyone. No matter which style you practice, Yoga is about spending time with you and it will quite simply make you feel physically, spiritually and emotionally better.
