Testimonials

4 or more years ago I discovered yoga and Jo Lockhart as a yoga teacher , I was particularly busy in life with a full time stressful job, a big team to manage, lots of work travel and two kids, I was finding it difficult to relax , sleep and generally switch off. Jo's ashtanga and flow classes really changed things for me, when I step on the mat to do my practice I get to switch off, focus on my breathing and enjoy the class. Its not about how good you are at any one posture, its about how your practice makes you feel, how it evolves over time and the effect on your well being.
However the added benefits of consistent practice is a strong, well toned body, the difference to my physical apearance and core strength has really delighted me.
I take every chance I get to go along to class and now with the studio opening and so many options available its fantastic, I have a monthly membership which means I can go to as many classes as I like, it makes each class very inexpensive. Jo has become a great friend and we have a lovely yoga community going now, its become  something I love and look forward to.  Come along and try, you will love it.

I have recently traded in my expensive (don't use all the facilities on offer) gym membership, circuits & work outs for my "Chilled Out" Yoga Jo's monthly pass! Aside from the benefits of a harder physical workout on my core, improved flexibility, balance, tone & strength post knee injury (making for easier running & skiing!) - I love the mental calming that comes with the end relaxation (family & work colleagues have commented on effects of that!) & I sleep better!

With changing work/family committments the "Chilled Out" pass means I can attend classes when I can & offers me a variety of different teaching practices & classes. Each class & teacher is different, the beauty & flow of each complementing & solidly supporting the work of each other, from gentle Hatha to the more powerful Asthanga!
The Yoga Jo studio itself is a special place & a beautiful sanctuary from the frenzy that family life & work can bring! It is warm & calming with a dynamic space for deep & invigorating yoga practice.
As a rookie, new to the bliss of yoga & its etiquette - I am warmly welcomed & gently steered & challenged with tremendous care, energy, skill & knowledge by each teacher.  The genius & visionary behind YJ's  - Jo, is a dynamic, committed, passionate, inspirational & gifted yogi. She is committed to continual professional development & so her team are always furthering their practice. On offer are also more intensive workshops led by other yogis from around the world.
To have such a tremendous team of yogi's to support her work & a fabulous facility to practice in locally is a gift to us all! Thank you.

As a yoga student, walking into the warm, calm and welcoming yogajo's building is in itself a lovely beginning; the place is ideal for practising yoga.   The classes are many and varied; I practice ashtanga, mysore and flow and I love all of them but there is also Hatha, yoga for runners, kids yoga, seniors yoga and much more I believe.

My teacher is Jo, the owner; she guides, teaches and encourages in such a lovely way, regardless of your ability (she makes it clear yoga is for everyone) which has made me keep coming back the past few years plus she is very knowledgeable and really knows her yoga stuff!.   I've had classes with the other teachers too and they have all been really great.   Even better for me is the relaxed atmosphere after day time classes with hot drinks and cake or biscuits on offer.

I signed up for monthly membership which means I get unlimited classes; it's totally worth it if doing two classes a week but I now do more and it doesn't cost me another penny.

Having previously been to a class run by owner Jo in a drafty and dusty Guidehall and really enjoyed it I was really looking forward to seeing what a proper Yoga studio would be. I have not been disappointed, she has taken a horrible building and turned it into a wonderful oasis of warmth and calm and I love going to classes there. I am learning ashtanga with teacher Sinead and am really feeling the benefit, I am thinner, more flexible and have a better sense of balance without having changed my diet (as a 40+ mum of two this seems miraculous).  I buy the 5 class pass as my life is too erratic to go with a regular membership option and I find it works really well for me. I'm now trying to get my husband to go to the class for runners and cyclists as I think it will really help him. There really is a class for everyone....well worth a visit.

Alison Monk, Milngavie

I recently moved to Milngavie and was looking for somewhere that offered yoga classes-beyond the average church hall gentle Hatha class or Sports centre class with limited room for progression. Luckily Yoga Jo's opened a couple of months later and offers a variety of classes for all ages and abilities, from 5 years through to Seniors and unlike a number of other centres in the wider Glasgow area, does not require block booking of classes. This was a real bonus for me as it allows flexibility around family life, whilst the various payment options also allow you to simply try classes out without heavy financial commitment. I now have monthly rolling membership which by attending a couple of classes a week pays for itself!
The space itself is beautiful and is such a friendly, welcoming place to practice. I've attended classes by a few different teachers, including Jo herself and I've loved very class. Each being challenging but supportive and the attention to adjustments and alternative postures is better than I have experienced anywhere before. I've been attending classes for a couple of months now and am so happy to be part of the Yoga Jo's community.

I would recommend YogaJo's to anyone who practices yoga, or is thinking of starting.  It is a beautiful welcoming space, with a real community feel. There are many different classes for all levels of practice, and the teachers are all well qualified and helpful.  It is a very friendly crowd that goes to the studio and everyone is made to feel welcome.

"The very bendy lady" was the first description that I heard of Jo. That was about 7 years ago when as a complete yoga novice I started going to Ashtanga classes led by Harry Normand. The aforesaid "bendy lady" was to lead our practice whilst Harry was on a retreat in India. All went really well and everyone loved Jo's classes. Harry then moved permanently to Australia and Jo took care of his students. We practised in a variety of cold, often dusty, church halls, guide huts and other less than ideal venues.

Finally, Jo's dream came true with the opening of YogaJo's studio last October. Others have already written about the beautiful space, the warmth, the friendship and the quality of the classes, so there is only one thing for me personally to say, which is,  that I love it. As a septuagenarian, I am welcomed and treated as a friend by many folks half my age and this is something very precious. It really is a place for all ages from the very young (prenatal) to Seniors. Everyone should give it a try.
